The Margate Bookshop

This modest enterprise stems from a desire to encourage a larger involvement in reading in a time when the activity of buying and browsing books has become more impersonal.

At the heart of The Margate Bookshop lies the desire for more accessible spaces that feel inviting to a wider audience, through which to promote art and, in particular, literature.

Find us at Turner Contemporary this May!

Hello!

The sun is shining, the dark days are behind us, already we've been blessed with a long-deserved heatwave, and with barely a moment's hesitation The Margate Bookshop will be back on the seashore! I'll be setting up shop at Turner Contemporary for the May Bank Holiday weekend, to join the new spring edition of the Margate Bookie literary festival.

The Margate Bookshop pop-up will be at Turner Contemporary from Friday 4 May (likely open from 10am if you forgive my setting up and displays-tweaking), and the third edition of the Margate Bookie kicks off on the Saturday with Louis de Bernières, Jake Arnott and others. The Bookie brings you a company of authors, poets and speakers, as well as talks, walks, inspirational readings, workshops and the world’s first ever TS Eliot Rave, while I'll be working to bring you a fresh selection of recent publications, cult classics, independent titles and more. Find the full program here and follow The Margate Bookshop on Instagram and Facebook, and because I need to up my social media game, Twitter.

See you there!
