The Bookshop is Back
I’m pleased to announce that The Margate Bookshop returns with a new pop-up shop in Cliftonville!
The Margate Bookshop is now at the wonderful 101 Social Club on Northdown Road, teaming up with a handful of brilliant people and accompanying 101 Social Club’s Winter Fair.
Also of note is that I finally got around to making a website. Maintaining a consistent online presence in between working two jobs and keeping up with a semblance of a normal social life isn't as straightforward as we're made to believe. After much faff and many struggles with CSS and the rest, I bring you a website on which I'll be sharing regular start-up updates, book recommendations, new publications and anything else that I - or you - might find interesting. In the online shop you'll find books by independent publishers, together with a changing selection of fiction and non-fiction.
The last pop-up shop at Turner Contemporary marked the launch of this business venture and was an absolute success. I can only take a small part of the merit, because so much is down to the amazing people I've been working with. I received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback, and your kind words have meant more to me than you can imagine. It may have been months ago, but I wanted to say again what an absolute pleasure it was to be a part of the Margate Bookie, and an infinitely huge thank you goes out to everyone who showed their support along the way.
As I continue to search for a permanent shop space, there will be a number of other pop-up shops in Margate, starting with our residency at 101 Social Club running until Christmas. There are also a couple of interesting collaborations lined up for the new year. The Margate Bookshop is all about exchanging ideas and creating a dedicated space that is very much integrated with the town's community, so please get in touch with any suggestions or projects, or simply just to say hello!
For now, come have a browse, either on Northdown Road or in the online shop...!
