A MUSICAL JOURNEY THROUGH CAMBODIA

THURSDAY, 16 MARCH 2023

Dee Peyok discusses her funny, tragic and moving history of Cambodia's lost golden age of pop, Away From Beloved Lover

7.00pm-9.00pm Fort Road Bar, Fort Road Hotel

After nearly a century of colonisation, the Cambodian youth of the 60's and 70's were ready to rock n roll. Musicians flocked to the capital Phnom Penh and a Golden Age was born. But on 17 April 1975 the music stopped. Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge took control and a literal and cultural genocide commenced. 90% of musicians died on the killing fields. This is their story.

We'll be in discussion with Dee about her personal journey to writing the book, soundtracked by DJ Luke Mclean.

Entry is free but please RSVP to info@themargatebookshop.com to guarantee a space.
